It’s been just over a month since the announcement of Destructive Creations new isometric murder simulator Hatred sparked a petition by an indie game developer calling for development on the game to end. Whilst that particular effort didn’t gain the traction necessary to halt work on the game, a new spanner in the works has arrived in the form of Valve pulling the game from Steam Greenlight.
Speaking to Eurogamer on the games removal, Doug Lombardi stated : “Based on what we’ve seen on Greenlight we would not publish Hatred on Steam. As such we’ll be taking it down.”
This establishes something of a (dangerous?) precedent for Valve, whilst controversial games such as Postal, Grand Theft Auto, Manhunt and worst of all, mass genocide/incest simulator Crusader Kings 2 (gasp!) make a home on the platform it seems like this is the line they simply won’t cross.
The trailer to the controversial effort has been parodied by Swedish Sports fashion brand Björn Borg who have released a teaser trailer for their new game First Person Lover. To me, murdering people with rainbows is just as valid as murdering people with machine guns. Even Destructive Creations have praised the slick looking effort that you can find below.
